    • The prize money will be used to further HAGO’s work to provide support to girls and women at risk of period poverty in Canada, including more remote Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario.2

    • Brandford started her first business at 16 with a government grant.2
    • She volunteered in the radiation clinic at Sunnybrook’s Odette Cancer Centre in Toronto, assisting doctors, nurses, and radiation therapists with patient service.2
    • She did acrylic painting and also used oils to design board games and oil paintings, which she sold to fund her schooling.2
    • She also created fuse glass jewelry in a kiln she operated by renting space in her sister’s garage.2
