Yanique Brandford

Yanique Brandford is a physicist with a passion for humanitarian work, aiming to specialize in nuclear physics and revolutionize cancer treatment before the age of 45. Recognized in 2020 with the Global Citizen's Canada's Hero award for her impactful work with Help A Girl Out (HAGO), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing women and girls in Canada and developing nations with essential menstrual and hygiene products, educational initiatives, and empowering campaigns.

Driven by a deep-seated desire to uplift marginalized individuals, Yanique focuses on supporting women facing challenges like period poverty, gender-based violence, and domestic abuse. Her diverse interests include volunteering, artistic expression across various mediums, puzzle-solving, and delving into scripture. She shows a particular affinity for academic subjects like quantum physics, radiation biology, radiation therapy, and linear algebra.

Yanique Brandford's academic journey includes pursuing a Master of Science in Biomedical Physics and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health/Medical Physics at Ryerson University. Her professional experience spans roles such as Teaching Assistant, Founder and Executive Director of Help A Girl Out NP Canada, Medical Physics Thesis Student, Undergraduate Research Assistant, and Radiation Clinic Volunteer at Sunnybrook. She also has past experience as a Crew Member at McDonald's.
