Wouter Schaasberg

Wouter Schaasberg is a highly ambitious Orthopedic Surgeon with a specialization in hip prosthesis utilizing anterior (DAA; ASI) and posterior approaches. He is also well-versed in total and hemi knee prosthesis and sports orthopedics.
He received his training at the HMC Hospital and HAGA Hospital in Den Haag. Wouter has undertaken a traveling fellowship in sports orthopedics through the Dutch Arthroscopy Association in various sports clinics in Germany and a fellowship in "one stage revision" for periprosthetic infections of the knee and hip at the Endo Clinic in Hamburg, Germany.
With several research projects and publications on return-to-work after total hip and knee replacement, the potential of silicone femoroplasty in proximal femur fractures, and risk factors for secondary hip fractures in the elderly, Wouter achieved a nomination and secured the second place in the LUMC Science Award.
Passionate about education and mentoring, Wouter has been actively involved in training medical students and Assistants in Training of Orthopedics (AIOS). He is currently pursuing becoming an ATLS instructor; having successfully completed the General Instructor course.
Besides his medical pursuits, Wouter is an avid participant in car and watersports activities. He has taken part in events like the Amsterdam Dakar Challenge and the Race of the Classics, with a keen aspiration to participate in the Dakar Rally in the future.
