William Winkenwerder Jr.

William Winkenwerder is a national healthcare leader, corporate board member, and healthcare investor with extensive experience in health insurance, integrated care delivery, and public policy. He is the Chairman of a leading global healthcare IT services and solutions company and is known for his ability to implement strategies for organizational change. With a strong background in health policy and economics, healthcare consulting, and media relations, Winkenwerder has served on the board of public and private companies and has extensive personal relationships with leaders across the US health industry, government, and internationally.

Winkenwerder obtained his BS in Pre-Med at Davidson College, his MBA in Healthcare Business Administration at The Wharton School, and his MD in Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. He has held various executive leadership roles in healthcare, including President and CEO at Highmark Inc., Vice Chairman of the Office of CEO and Executive Vice President at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Assistant Secretary of Defense, Health Affairs at the Pentagon, US Department of Defense, Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy.

As a seasoned executive and experienced board director, Winkenwerder has served on boards of companies like athenahealth, Capgemini, Bob Woodruff Foundation, and C-Change. He has also served as an Executive Advisory Board member at The Wharton School and a Strategic Advisory Board member at Canyon Healthcare Partners. With his expertise in health information technology and corporate governance, Winkenwerder has been a Board Director at Logistics Health Incorporated and Cureatr, where he served as interim CEO.
