William Carson

William Carson is a distinguished pharmaceutical and biotechnology leader with a strong background in global regulatory interactions, M&A strategy, joint ventures, and process governance.

As of January 1, 2020, he holds the position of Chairman of the Board at Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc. where he previously served as President & CEO. He is also responsible for leading Otsuka philanthropic initiatives.

Dr. Carson is recognized for developing drugs and digital medicines approved by global regulatory authorities, creating significant value while positively impacting patients' lives and society overall.

He is a Board-certified psychiatrist and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, holding an A.B. from Harvard College and an M.D. from Case Western Reserve University.

Apart from his role at Otsuka, he serves on various boards including Excision Biotherapeutics, Inc. and Internet2, contributing his expertise in advancing gene-editing therapeutics and supporting technological innovation for research and education organizations.
