Will Payne is an Assistant Professor of Geographic Information Science at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University.14 He joined the Bloustein School in September 2020 after completing his PhD in Geography from the University of California, Berkeley.1

Dr. Payne is working on a book project that explores how different urban residents use "urban information systems" like Zagat Survey, Yelp, Foursquare, and Google Local to organize their consumption experiences in cities. He also studies how technologists and real estate developers use the resulting data to transform marginal neighborhoods into upscale consumption spaces.1
