Will Lovegrove
Director Business and Innovation Partnerships at UCL
Dr. Will Lovegrove is a highly accomplished innovator and technology transfer specialist with an exceptional track record in developing highly successful R&D projects. He holds a Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of Nottingham and has a 1st BSc (hons) in Computer Science. Dr. Lovegrove is a Director of Innovation Strategy at the University of Surrey, with a special focus on Technology Transfer and Industry Partnerships.
With support from Innovate UK, the UK Government's innovation agency, Dr. Lovegrove created the R&D project 'systemsync' in 2014, which harnessed cloud technology to reduce costs associated with transfer of business data between organizations. This led to the creation of a technology start-up known as pensionsync, which pioneered the electronic transfer of financial data between payroll software and pension providers. In August 2019, pensionsync was acquired by Australian cloud payroll provider KeyPay.
Dr. Lovegrove is a member of the Money and Pensions Service 'pensions dashboard' Steering Group and has received a lifetime achievement award from the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals. Furthermore, he is an ambassador for the Transparency Task Force, a UK-based organization comprised of volunteers who champion transparency in the global financial services industry.
Prior to his directorial responsibilities at University of Surrey, Dr. Lovegrove served as Head of Technology Transfer and also worked as CEO & co-founder at systemsync solutions Ltd, Owner and Managing Director at Release Consulting Ltd t/a Release Mobile, Director of I.T. Digital Initiatives at Universal Music Group International, Entrepreneur in Residence at Brainspark, Product Director at Peoplesound.com, and Internet Manager at Ministry of Sound.
