Whitney Mattingly

Whitney Mattingly is an English and History teacher at the Village School of Louisville, where she has contributed significantly to the educational environment. With a diverse background that includes experience in marketing, art, and education, she transitioned to teaching after spending three years as a full-time artist. At the Village School, she has taught Art and Cultural Experience classes and has led various clubs, including sewing, visual arts, and gardening. Additionally, she has experience teaching at the Louisville Zoo and has conducted academic research focused on children's media, advertising, and gamification in education. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on experiences.1

Outside of her professional life, Whitney enjoys historical and costuming sewing, mixed-media art, and gardening. She is an avid reader, typically reading over 40 books a year. Whitney is also a family-oriented individual, sharing her life with her spouse, twins, a dog, and two cats. Her distinctive appearance, characterized by brightly colored hair and tattoos, makes her easily recognizable.1
