Dr. Wayne Poll, M.D., is a highly accomplished and respected medical professional with a background in Urology and a focus on minimally invasive surgery, particularly laparoscopic and robotic techniques.
After graduating from Duke University and the Vanderbilt University Medical School, Dr. Poll completed his Urology residency at The Massachusetts General Hospital, where he excelled as Chief Resident and an Instructor in Surgery at The Harvard Medical School.
In 1990, Dr. Poll founded Urology Surgeons, Inc., a practice that expanded to include 6 surgeons. During this time, he also established a clinical research company and a Medicare capitated management company.
Recognized for his expertise, Dr. Poll has served in various leadership roles at Riverside Hospital, including Chief of Urology, Chief of Surgery, and Chief of Staff, while also being on the Board of Directors for OhioHealth Corp.
Dr. Poll's contributions to the field include performing the first laparoscopic nephrectomy in Ohio in 1991, teaching numerous courses on laparoscopic techniques, and serving as the Principal Investigator for Phase III cancer vaccine trials.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Poll has been involved in medical device innovation, with products under his name launched by Ethicon EndoSurgery and founding Minimally Invasive Devices, Inc., the developers of the award-winning FloShield vision system.
He has also held leadership positions at companies like Mirabilis Medical and Enlyton, Inc., showcasing his diverse skills in the healthcare industry.
With over 19 issued patents and 10 pending patents, Dr. Poll's contributions to medicine and surgery are widely recognized, earning him prestigious awards such as CEO of the Year and Inventor of the Year in Columbus.
