Vusi Gumede

Vusi Gumede is a distinguished academic serving as a Professor and Dean at the University of Mpumalanga in the Faculty of Economics, Development, and Business Sciences.

With a PhD in Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, he boasts an extensive background in academia and government advisory roles, having worked for prominent institutions in South Africa.

In addition to his current position, Professor Gumede has held key roles at the University of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute, Ministry of Public Enterprises, University of Johannesburg, Southern Africa Trust, The Presidency, Department of Trade & Industry, and the National Institute of Economic Policy.

Furthermore, Vusi Gumede is a seasoned consultant for various organizations within and outside South Africa, contributing his expertise to diverse projects and initiatives.

His vast experience encompasses research fellowships in multiple countries and active participation in Editorial Committees and various other institutions, councils, and boards.

As a prolific author, Professor Gumede has an impressive publication record, including fourteen books, and has successfully mentored over twenty Masters and Doctoral students since he embarked on his academic journey in 2010.
