Highlights
It's interesting that some of the ideas behind FTX, if properly executed in a decentralized way, actually do work - for example, you can think of Lighter's LLP public pool as an "internal market maker" but there are fundamental differences.
- LLP can only execute its trades on Lighter (which leaves lots of other strategies that involve multiple exchanges e.g. funding rate arbitrage to external MMs and HFTs)
- everything that LLP does can be seen on-chain
- LLP is explicitly using capital from the community that traders have opted into adding to the pool
- LLP is not able to do anything with that capital other than trade on Lighter and generate returns, and that's enforced by our ZK circuits and smart contracts
HLP is also a great example of a protocol driven market maker that's generated strong returns for its community, as @ThinkingUSD and others pointed out
Excited to ship the "Quant" page for @lighter_xyz - reminds me of when I was the "that's my quant" guy on the Citadel trading floor back in 2004! https://t.co/pR3ygPGUGo
