Viveka Weiley
Viveka Weiley is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of leadership experience in product development and R&D labs across various industries and academia, as well as innovative startups in Sydney and Silicon Valley. She specializes in applying systems, futures, and design thinking to bring products and services from invention to scale.
Viveka has a diverse educational background, with studies in Distributed Collaborative Creativity, Information Technology, and Industrial, Architectural, and Visual Design from renowned institutions like the University of Technology Sydney and UNSW.
As an interim Program Leader at CSIRO, Viveka leads a team of engineers, designers, and researchers in reinventing science. She is a former advisor, consultant, and speaker to startups, mission-driven organizations, and academic institutions, sharing her expertise internationally on collaborative creativity and innovation.
Viveka's favorite tools include first principles, transdisciplinary curiosity, contextual enquiry, and an experimental mindset. She addresses key questions such as local versus global maxima, risk assessment, aggregation theory, platform economics, pervasive computing, and ethics by design.
Throughout her career, Viveka has led groundbreaking initiatives, such as delivering the first 1cm resolution 3D earth over the web and co-founding SIGGRAPH Asia.
