Vinay Malkani

Vinay Malkani is the President and CEO of Figure Eight Federal, a subsidiary of Appen, which specializes in data labeling and artificial intelligence solutions for the defense and intelligence sectors. He assumed this role on April 4, 2024, following his previous position as Chief of Engineering at the same company, where he was instrumental in developing advanced AI and multisensor platforms tailored for government applications.13

Malkani has over two decades of experience in the technology industry, particularly in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Before joining Figure Eight Federal, he held the position of head of cloud engineering at Mayfield Robotics. His extensive background includes working on AI projects across various industries, including biotech and energy, which has equipped him with a deep understanding of the data challenges faced in these fields.12

In his new role, Malkani aims to enhance Figure Eight Federal's growth and innovation, focusing on creating effective and ethical AI tools to support U.S. warfighters.
