Vijay Singh
Assistant Professor in Biophysics
Vijay Singh is an accomplished assistant professor in the Physics department at North Carolina A&T State University, where he leads research on information processing in living systems with a focus on signal processing in cellular, olfactory, and visual systems. He employs theoretical, computational, and human psychophysics methods in his investigations.
Vijay earned his Ph.D. in physics from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, in 2015. His doctoral research incorporated statistical physics and neuroscience approaches to analyze complex biological networks, particularly examining information transmission on receptor networks and percolation on hierarchical complex networks. He also constructed a continuum model of the human primary visual cortex to explore object contour detection.
His educational background includes a Master's degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from St. Stephen's College, where he graduated with First Class honors.
Prior to his current role at North Carolina A&T State University, Vijay served as a Computational Neuroscience Initiative Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. He also has experience as a graduate student at Emory University.
Vijay Singh welcomes inquiries regarding research positions in his group and is actively involved in advancing the field of information processing in living systems through his multidisciplinary and innovative research endeavors.
