Vijay Murugesan
Group Leader in Materials Sciences and Director of Critical Materials Separations Initiative
Vijay Murugesan is a skilled industrial engineer with experience in manufacturing engineering, operations planning, and quality assurance and control. He has held positions as a teaching assistant at the University of Texas at Austin, manufacturing intern at Schlumberger, and a supplier quality intern at Applied Materials. Murugesan also worked as a product engineer at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited where he handled conceptual and detailed design engineering duties and managed operations planning for manufacturing assembly lines.
Murugesan's specialties are systems engineering, lean manufacturing, design of experiments, statistical methods in manufacturing, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, DMAIC/8D, and data analysis. He is also proficient in PTC Creo, Auto CAD, MATLAB, Microsoft Excel, ARENA, R, SAP, SAS, and STATA. Murugesan completed his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with first class honors from the College of Engineering, Guindy.
