Vijay Lathi
Managing Director and Co-Founder, New Leaf Venture Partners
Vijay Lathi is the Managing Director and co-founder of New Leaf Venture Partners, a venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, California. He has a strong academic background, holding both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University, respectively.
Lathi has extensive experience in healthcare technology investments, particularly in diagnostics and biopharmaceuticals. He began his career in venture capital at Sprout, where he joined in 1998 and became a partner in 2003. He played a significant role in founding New Leaf Venture Partners in 2005. His investment portfolio includes notable companies such as Ilypsa, which was sold to Amgen, and Relypsa, which went public.12
In his current role, Lathi is responsible for evaluating new investment opportunities and managing existing investments, working closely with the management teams of portfolio companies to foster their growth and development.1
