Vanessa Hayes is a highly accomplished academic and researcher in the field of cancer genetics with an extensive educational background.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cancer Genetics from the University of Groningen, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Human/Medical Genetics, and a B.Sc. in Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Aquaculture from Stellenbosch University.
Vanessa has been associated with several prestigious academic institutions where she has held key positions. She is currently an Extraordinary Professor of Health Sciences at the University of Pretoria.
In her illustrious career, Vanessa Hayes has also served as the Petre Chair of Prostate Cancer Research at the University of Sydney, a Professor of Human Comparative and Prostate Cancer Genomics at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, and an Honorary Professor of Medical Sciences at the University of Limpopo.
Her vast experience includes roles such as Conjoint Professor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales, Adjunct Professor of Medical Genomics at the J. Craig Venter Institute, and a Professor at the J. Craig Venter Institute.
Vanessa has also contributed significantly to cancer genetics research as a Group Leader at the Children's Cancer Institute and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. She has previously been a Laboratory Head at the Department of Urology, Genetics Laboratory at Stellenbosch University.
