V.G. Narayanan is the Thomas D. Casserly, Jr. Professor of Business Administration and Senior Associate Dean of Executive Education and HBS Online at Harvard Business School.13 He has been teaching accounting at Harvard Business School for over 23 years.4
Background and Education
Narayanan was born in Tamil Nadu, India, and attended PSBB Senior Secondary School in Chennai.2 He holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Madras (1988), an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (1990), and a PhD in Business from Stanford Graduate School of Business (1995).12
Career at Harvard Business School
Narayanan joined Harvard Business School as a faculty member in 1994.2 Throughout his tenure, he has:
- Taught courses such as Financial Reporting and Control, Measuring and Driving Corporate Performance, and Management Control and Performance Measurement1
- Served as the unit head of the accounting and management unit4
- Chaired the second-year elective curriculum for the HBS MBA program4
