Usama Fayyad

Usama Fayyad is a prominent figure in the fields of data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI). He currently serves as a Board Member at PostProcess Technologies, a company specializing in automated post-processing solutions for 3D printed parts. Fayyad joined the board in March 2021, bringing extensive experience and insights to the organization as it aims to leverage data connectivity in additive manufacturing.125
Fayyad is recognized for being the first executive to hold the title of Chief Data Officer, a role he assumed at Yahoo! after the acquisition of his second startup. His career includes significant leadership positions at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Microsoft, and Barclays Bank, where he served as the Global Chief Data Officer from 2013 to 2016. He has also co-founded several startups, including OODA Health, and is the founder and chairman of Open Insights, a company focused on helping enterprises maximize the value of their data assets.134
In addition to his corporate roles, Fayyad is the inaugural Executive Director of the Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University, aiming to advance research in how humans interact with intelligent technologies. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan and has published over 100 technical articles while holding more than 20 patents.123
Fayyad's contributions to the field have been recognized with various awards, including the Lew Allen Award for Excellence in Research from Caltech and a U.S. Government medal from NASA. His expertise is sought after in areas such as Big Data, predictive analytics, and data monetization strategies.12
