Usama Fayyad
Usama Fayyad is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in data science, technology, and entrepreneurship. Starting his career at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, he led the analysis of large data sets in science and earned top research awards from Caltech and NASA. Later, his expertise in data mining and exploration led him to hold senior management roles and co-found several successful technology startups, including Digimine, AudienceScience, and Blue Kangaroo. Fayyad also served as the Chief Data Officer and Group Managing Director at Barclays Bank and Executive Chairman at Oasis500, a top tech startup accelerator in the Middle East.
Throughout his career, Fayyad has published over 100 technical articles, filed 30+ patents, and received numerous industry awards and recognitions. He is a Fellow of both AAAI and ACM and the current Chairman of ACM SIGKDD. He is an active angel investor and serves on the advisory board of several leading universities and technology companies.
Fayyad is currently the Chairman and CEO of Open Insights, a Silicon Valley-based data science consulting firm he founded in 2008. He is also a co-founder and advisory CTO of OODA Health, a San Francisco-based company that brings AI and real-time payment solutions to the US healthcare industry.
