Umer Huzaifa

Umer Huzaifa is a highly skilled doctoral candidate in Robotics and Control with a passion for designing movement behaviors. Currently seeking full-time positions in the field of Robotics, Control, and related areas. His doctoral research focuses on developing gait styles on planar biped models that are understandable to lay human viewers.

With a strong research background, Umer excels in problem scoping, identifying tools for solutions, hypothesizing results, developing user studies, and extensively documenting the research process and outcomes. He actively shares his work on Researchgate and Google Scholar for academic visibility.

His technical skills span across dynamics and control of mechanical systems, algorithm development for robot movement, and user interface design for various robot platforms such as Baxter, NAO, and youBot. He is proficient in various programming languages including C/C++, C#, Matlab, Python, and tools like TensorFlow.

Umer's expertise extends to robot modeling and simulation software like SimMechanics, SolidWorks, VREP, Robotics Systems Toolbox, and ROS. He is well-versed in embedded systems utilizing PIC Microcontrollers, Arduino kits, AT89 Microcontrollers, and Xilinx, along with circuit designing using tools like Express PCB, Proteus ISIS and ARES, Orcad, and NI Multisim.

His academic journey includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering and an MS in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Robot Controls and Dynamics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Umer has also studied Systems Engineering at the University of Virginia and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical, Electronics, and Control Engineering from the National University of Science and Technology.

Throughout his career, Umer has held roles such as Assistant Professor at DePaul University, Visiting Assistant Professor at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and Graduate Research Assistant at various prestigious labs. He has also contributed as a Laboratory Engineer and intern, showcasing a diverse set of experiences and expertise in the field.
