Ugo Arzani

Head of Retail and Consumer Investments at Qatar Investment Authority

Ugo Arzani is currently the Head of Retail and Consumer Investments at the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), a position he has held since 2013. In this role, he oversees investments in various sectors including retail, consumer goods, consumer technology, leisure and sports, and agriculture. Throughout his tenure, he has successfully completed over 40 investments globally for QIA.1 2

Before joining QIA, Arzani spent 15 years at Merrill Lynch, where he served as Managing Director in the investment banking division. His work there primarily focused on advising retail and consumer companies on mergers and acquisitions as well as financing transactions.1 3 4

Arzani holds a degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He is multilingual, fluent in Italian, English, French, and German, and has lived and worked internationally throughout his career.1 2

In addition to his role at QIA, he serves on the board of directors for several companies, including Accor SA.1 5
