U Shwe Thein

U Thein is a highly experienced policy advocate with a strong focus on land rights advocacy in Myanmar. With 27 years of management experience, including over a decade with CARE, he has excelled in program development, project management, and community development. His expertise extends to program support management and organization development as well.

In his role as the Executive Director at Land Core Group, U Thein demonstrates his leadership and advocacy skills by providing advocacy training, mobilizing networks, and leading advocacy movements. He has successfully managed project managers, facilitated effective partnerships with government and UN agencies, and actively participated in strategic planning processes.

With a background in Forestry, including an M.Sc. from The Australian National University, U Thein combines his academic knowledge with hands-on experience to drive sustainable rural livelihood programs and contribute to the development sector. As an internal OD expert and online coach, he continues to make significant contributions to organizational development strategies.
