Tyler Harrison

Tyler Harrison is an accomplished American composer, concert pianist, and music educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. With a strong background in music composition, he has written a wide range of works for various musical ensembles including solo instruments, chamber ensembles, orchestra, wind ensemble, and symphonic band.
As a composer, Tyler has had his compositions performed by prestigious groups such as the San Francisco State University Wind Ensemble, the Contra Costa Wind Symphony, and many others. Notably, he has showcased his talents as a pianist by performing his own compositions, including his Concertpiece for Piano and Orchestra and Concerto for Piano, Winds, and Percussion.
Passionate about music education, Tyler has been teaching private lessons in piano, composition, and music theory for over twelve years. He currently runs a studio with over 40 students in Palo Alto and Mountain View, California. Additionally, he served as a graduate instructor at the University of Colorado at Boulder, teaching composition courses for non-music and performance majors from 2011 to 2014.
Tyler holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Montana. Throughout his academic journey, he has been mentored by renowned composers and pianists, enriching his musical perspective and expertise.
