    Toto Kisaku

"Open our windows and let the air in. Let's get out of our four walls.

Toto Kisaku is an award-winning Congolese playwright, actor, director, and producer who serves as the Arts & Ideas Artist in Residence.

He studied drama at the National Institute of Arts in Kinshasa and founded the K-Mu Theater in 2003, dedicating 15 years to traveling the world producing and participating in plays.

Having arrived in the United States in late 2015 and being granted political asylum in March of the following year, Toto has been redefining his artistic expression based on the contrasts between his home country and his host nation.

His work aims to transcend daily life constraints, exploring how individuals in poverty or under oppressive regimes can transform their environments through art.

Toto's productions encourage audience engagement to extend beyond performance boundaries.
