James Stavridis

Torrey Taussig, PhD is a highly accomplished international relations expert and business consultant with a distinguished career spanning over four decades. With a PhD in International Relations from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and a BS in English and Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, he has held various high-level positions in the United States Navy, including as Commander of the ENTERPRISE Strike Group, USS Barry (DDG-52), and Southern Command. Additionally, he served as Supreme Allied Commander Europe at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), where he led NATO forces, and as Dean of The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Dr. Taussig is an Operating Executive at The Carlyle Group, where he provides expert advice on geopolitical and international financial opportunities and advises senior leadership on business opportunities in sectors such as cybersecurity, aerospace, and transportation. He is also the Chair of Board of Counselors at McLarty Associates, a top international consulting firm, and the Chair of the Board of the US Naval Institute, the professional organization for the sea services.

An expert in international business and finance, strategic and long-range planning, diplomatic engagement, and interagency activity with all organizations associated with defense and international activity within the US government, Dr. Taussig is a well-known and respected figure in the field. He is also a prolific writer and speaker, having published eight books and countless articles, and is a regular columnist for TIME Magazine and Bloomberg Opinion, in addition to serving as Chief International Security Analyst for NBC News.
