Tommy Gibbons
Pioneering bio-based insulation in North America
Tommy Gibbons is an Innovation Fellow at Innovation Crossroads, where he focuses on developing sustainable building materials through his company, Hempitecture. His background includes corporate finance and early-stage company growth, complemented by expertise in green building. He is a certified LEED Green Associate and has received recognition as a 2021 Building Technologies Office IMPEL+ innovator. Additionally, he trained at France's l’École Nationale du Chanvre, specializing in hemp construction.
Before founding Hempitecture in Ketchum, Idaho, Gibbons worked at Piper Computers in San Francisco and Goldman Sachs in New York City. He holds a degree from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy, graduating in 2013. At Hempitecture, he oversees operations and product development, particularly focusing on HempWool insulation, a carbon-negative material designed to reduce a building's carbon footprint while enhancing occupant health and comfort. Gibbons was also recognized on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2020 for his contributions to manufacturing and industry.123
