Tom Shakespeare
Professor of Disability Research at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
Tom Shakespeare is a distinguished academic known for his expertise in disability studies, bioethics research, policy, and communications.
He pursued his education at Radley College, the University of Cambridge where he earned a PhD in Sociology, and Newcastle University.
Tom has held prominent positions in various organizations including being a Professor of Disability Research at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London.
Prior to that, he served as a Professor of Disability Research and a Senior Lecturer in medical sociology at the University of East Anglia.
Tom Shakespeare has also been associated with the World Health Organization in the capacity of a Technical Officer.
His contributions extend to the arts and cultural sector, having chaired the North East Regional Arts Council and been a member of the Arts Council at Arts Council England.
