Professor of Architecture Deputy Director Sir Lawrence Wackett Defence and Aerospace Centre RMIT University
Tom Kovac is a distinguished Professor of Architecture at RMIT University and also serves as the Deputy Director of the Sir Lawrence Wackett Defence & Aerospace Centre at RMIT.
With a rich background in academia and professional practice, Kovac has held various leadership roles internationally, including as a Visiting Professor at IoA Die Angewandte Urban Strategies in Vienna, Studio director at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles, and Director of Alessi Airspace at the Architectural Association in London.

Acknowledged for his talents, Kovac has served as the Architecture Director of the European Capital of Culture in 2012 and curated the Slovenian Pavilion at the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale.
His recent roles as Artistic Director for the Malaysia Biennial 2017, Director of SuperCity at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018, and Director of CITYX Xiong'an in China demonstrate his ongoing involvement in shaping the architectural landscape globally.
As an accomplished author, Kovac's Monograph No 50, published by Wiley UK, showcases his innovative projects that are now part of prestigious collections at institutions like FRAC Centre Orleans, The American Library of Congress, The Alessi Museum in Italy, and The Centre Pompidou in Paris.
Tom Kovac pursued his academic journey by completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and a Master's degree in Architecture at RMIT University, further enriching his knowledge and expertise in the field.
