Commissioner at Professional Bowlers Association (PBA)
Thomas Peter "Tom" Clark is an influential American sports executive, best known for his role as the Commissioner of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) since November 1, 2011. Born on April 29, 1969, in Syracuse, New York, Clark has been deeply involved in bowling from a young age, having chosen to attend Buffalo State University primarily for its bowling program. There, he was a member of the university's bowling team and competed at a national level.1
Early Career
Before his tenure at the PBA, Clark spent over a decade in print journalism, notably serving as the Sports Assignment Editor for USA Today. His work there helped elevate the media coverage of bowling, leading him to his first position in the bowling industry as Chief Marketing Officer for the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) in 2005. In 2008, he became Deputy Commissioner of the PBA under then-Commissioner Fred Schreyer.12

As Commissioner, Clark has overseen significant developments within the PBA:
- Expansion of Events: He expanded the PBA World Series of Bowling to include international competitors and initiated partnerships with global bowling organizations.
- Media Rights Transition: In 2018, he successfully negotiated a transition of the PBA's television media rights from ESPN to Fox Broadcasting, significantly increasing televised coverage from 32 hours to 60 hours per season.13
- Innovative Competitions: Under his leadership, the PBA introduced various new competitions and initiatives, including the PBA League and live streaming services for events, enhancing accessibility for fans.34
Current Role and Vision
Clark continues to serve as the de facto leader of the PBA following changes in its executive structure after its acquisition by Bowlero Corporation in late 2019. His vision focuses on promoting and growing bowling as a sport while ensuring it remains relevant and engaging for both players and fans.13
