Tom Bruls

Tom Bruls is the CTO and Co-founder of Synativ, a position he has held since September 2021.1 He is an engineer with expertise in AI and computer vision, passionate about applying current and new technologies to solve problems.1

Education and Research Background

Tom holds a PhD in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, which he completed between 2016 and 2020.1 His doctoral research, conducted at the Oxford Robotics Institute, focused on urban scene understanding for autonomous vehicles using AI techniques, particularly deep learning for computer vision.12

Prior to his PhD, Tom obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands.1

Entrepreneurial Journey

In March 2021, Tom joined Entrepreneur First as an LD16 Cohort Member to find a co-founder and leverage his expertise in AI and computer vision to build a tech company.1 This led to the creation of Synativ in September 2021, where he currently serves as CTO and Co-founder.1
