Tippy Maurant is the Deputy Director and Director of Galleries & Exhibitions at the Northern Clay Center. She has a diverse background in the arts, having started her journey at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where she earned a BA in Urban Studies with a minor in Childhood Development, alongside an undeclared minor in Studio Arts.
Maurant has been associated with the Northern Clay Center since 1995, engaging in various roles including student, outreach teacher, clay camp instructor, and studio artist before assuming her current leadership position. Additionally, she holds a post-baccalaureate degree in Sustainable Design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD).
Beyond her professional endeavors, Tippy is also a jewelry-maker and metalsmith, and she enjoys spending her free time creating recipes and dreaming of idyllic beach escapes. Her name "Tippy" is a stage name she adopted in childhood, while "Maurant" combines the names of her three children.12
