Tina Lee
Artistic Director Opera Circus/Producer
Tina Ellen Lee is an accomplished actress and singer who co-founded Opera Circus 29 years ago. She is dedicated to commissioning new work in opera and music theatre, particularly in the UK and Wider Europe, including the Balkan region. Tina fosters inclusive and diverse projects with children and young people using creative arts, while also actively developing partnerships to create innovative projects and meeting spaces. Her interests lie in cross art forms and using music and arts for social justice, particularly advocating for young people to become youth leaders. Tina is recognized for her work as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Winston Churchill/Finzi Fellow in 2014, Salzburg Global Fellow in 2014, and recipient of the European Citizens Prize in 2015. She leads the International Youth Arts Programme, The Complete Freedom of Truth, alongside UK and EU partners, and is involved in various ongoing projects like The Giufa Project, Crisis Classroom, and the Setubal Music Festival. Tina's involvement in structured dialogues and research projects highlight her commitment to social inclusion through creative avenues. She has served as the Artistic Director for Silent City, a community opera in Matera for Italy's Capital City of Culture, and is engaged in planning a newly commissioned opera called Naciketa. Tina is a member of What's Next Dorset and actively participates in initiatives like the Changing the Story project in Kosovo and the Izazov.org project in BiH, focusing on youth activism and filmmaking. She is eagerly awaiting responses for applications with Erasmus+ that could lead to further youth activism work in various countries.
