• Co-Founder and former Managing Director of Sandy Hook Promise, a non-profit organization formed in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting to protect children from gun violence1
• Founder & Chief Executive Officer at Woodstock Partners, a company based in Danielson, Connecticut2345

Makris co-founded Sandy Hook Promise in 2013 along with Mark Barden, Nicole Hockley, and Bill Sherlach, all of whom lost loved ones in the Sandy Hook tragedy. He devoted himself to the organization's mission, hosting initial meetings at his home.1

Under Makris' leadership, Sandy Hook Promise grew into a $17 million operation with nearly 100 employees. The organization achieved nationwide attention for its programs and policy initiatives to protect children.1

In March 2020, Makris announced his resignation from Sandy Hook Promise to spend more time with family and focus on self-care after an "incredible eight-year ride".1

Makris has over 15 years of experience as Founder and CEO of Woodstock Partners.4 He is an accomplished executive with expertise in information technology, marketing strategy, sales management, and business development.
