Thomson Nguyen is the Founder and CEO of Nearside, a neobank designed to serve small businesses, freelancers, and unbanked individuals. He established Nearside with the vision of making financial services more accessible and fair for entrepreneurs, particularly those who face challenges with traditional banking systems. The platform offers free business checking accounts with no monthly fees, overdraft charges, or ATM fees, alongside cashback rewards.12

Nguyen has a background in data science and entrepreneurship. Before founding Nearside, he was the CEO of Frame Data, a company that was acquired by Square. He also served as the Head of Capital Data Science at Square and has held various roles in the tech industry, including as a lead data scientist.35 His educational background includes degrees in Applied Mathematics from the University of Cambridge and Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley.45

In addition to his work at Nearside, Nguyen has been involved in various capacities within the tech community, including as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Kleiner Perkins and a Visiting Scholar at New York University's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences.5 His experiences as a gig worker have informed his approach to building products that cater to the unique needs of small business owners.2
