Thomas Suarez

Thomas Suarez is a software and electronics engineer based in San Francisco, California. He is currently involved in a stealth startup, where he is prototyping new augmented reality (AR) devices as of April 2023.2 Suarez is also recognized as a Thiel Fellow, a program that supports young innovators who wish to pursue entrepreneurial projects rather than traditional education pathways.2

Previously, he co-founded and served as CEO of Teleportal, an AR technology and 3D creator tools startup, from 2015 to 2023. During his tenure at Teleportal, he led various engineering projects and raised over $2 million in venture funding.12 His work includes significant contributions to augmented reality applications and human-computer interaction research. Notably, he has delivered a TED talk on computer science education and has experience with various technologies, including firmware engineering for smart toys and hand tracking for Google Glass.1

Suarez's background also includes internships and roles at Samsung Research America and Georgia Tech Research Institute, focusing on software development and human-computer interaction.2
