Thomas Nastas is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in product development and venture capital. He has worked with renowned companies like Ford Motor, Multifastener Corp., Donnelly Mirrors, Lear-Siegler, Votrax, and Park Chemical before establishing his own firm, Innovative Ventures Inc. He successfully raised his first US venture capital fund and expanded globally across various continents by raising funds from institutional investors and development finance institutions like the World Bank, EBRD, and IFC.
With a remarkable ability to scale start-ups globally across different cultures, economies, and legal systems, Thomas has raised and invested over $500 million through multiple asset funds into numerous companies worldwide. His leadership and management skills are evident from scaling his 2-person start-up in Detroit to a team of 75 across 18 global offices, overseeing operations, finance, investment, HR, compliance, and marketing with multicultural and multilingual teams.
Thomas is known for supporting investees in raising significant follow-on funding exceeding $4 billion for their growth through IPOs and mergers/acquisitions. His successful ventures include Neogen, Applied Intelligence Systems Inc., Personal Bibliographic Systems, Sunty, Suntyco, and several global M&A deals.
As a board member, Thomas has served in various capacities in private companies, non-profits, and the public sector, including roles like Independent Director, Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary on boards with responsibilities in Audit, Risk Management, and Strategy Committees. He has been actively involved in companies like Sotsgorbank, Neogen Corp., Applied Intelligent Systems Inc., Face Technologies, and many others.
Thomas Nastas holds an MBA and a BA in Marketing, Advertising, and Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University. He has been affiliated with prestigious organizations like the European Innovation Council, Spark Acceleration Lab, Development Bank of Jamaica, Centrepolis Accelerator, and the Georgian Innovation & Technology Agency among others. Thomas has also been engaged in various advisory roles related to venture capital, capital formation, business development, and revenue generation.
