Kumva Insights develops remote sensing technology to track changes and aid smarter decision making in challenging or hard-to-reach African environments, in an effort to support green industrialisation without stunting growth potential. 

Our proprietary IoT hardware sends data to sophisticated analytics tools which then translate complex datasets into actionable insights for our users, delivered on the device they use most; be it a computer or a basic mobile phone. 

Through our market driven approach and intelligent use of data, we deliver both positive commercial and societal impact. Our insights lower carbon emissions through power monitoring and optimisation of commercial buildings, increase agricultural production through monitoring and process automation, and reduce waste of medical supplies and food through monitoring of storage facility conditions.

- Designed a Farmer Management and Information System for MINAGRI, to help them track and engage with Rwanda's smallholder farmer communities.

iD&D is a British Rwandan company, offering IoT remote monitoring solutions to help understand high-hisk value chains in vulnerable communities across Africa. 

We design, build and deploy rugged and low-power IoT systems, working to serve our client data collection needs and offer the tools necessary to deliver on their impact goals. Our systems are custom made using globally-proven technologies designed in the USA and Rwanda, allowing us to offer contextually relevant, innovative, data collection solutions.

iD&D has collaborated with a team of skilled, US-based hardware designers to develop Kumva; a rugged, affordable and adaptable suite of value chain driven accessories for Particle’s fully-integrated, sector-leading IoT platform. Clients can buy Kumva hardware and deploy a simple data collection system with minimal setup, or for more complex use-cases iD&D can be contracted to make project-specific customisations before offering a locally based team (service currently available in Kigali, Rwanda) to set up, test and monitor.

iD&D prides itself on knowledge transfer and runs ‘applied IoT’ training to university students in Rwanda, helping them to better understand IoT product development while collecting the baseline data needed to help them develop new, impactful, market-driven solutions, and become Africa’s IoT trailblazers of the future.

Sokkaa is a pan-African sports community and media company for the social age, combining the best localised content and cross-platform native advertising solutions. Sokkaa was launched at the end of 2013 in the UK out of a desire to offer Africa-first, multilingual media content, and to provide a solution to the broken advertising model seen across the continent. Sokkaa transferred all of its operations to Rwanda in March 2014 in order to be closer to the relevant target group and has since attracted an active community of 4M football fans.
