Jessica Lessin
Jessica Lessin is the founder, CEO, and editor-in-chief of The Information, a subscription-based technology news publication she launched in 2013.12 Prior to founding The Information, Lessin spent eight years at The Wall Street Journal covering the technology and media industries.3
Early Life and Education
Lessin attended Harvard University, graduating in 2005 with a degree in history, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.3 While at Harvard, she wrote for The Harvard Crimson and served as an executive editor.3
Career
After graduating from Harvard, Lessin completed an internship at The Wall Street Journal and later became a full-time staff member.3 During her tenure at the publication, she wrote over a thousand articles and news stories while covering major technology companies like Apple, Google, Yahoo, Facebook, and Twitter.3
In 2013, Lessin left The Wall Street Journal to establish The Information, an online tech publication based in San Francisco.3 Under her leadership, The Information has expanded its coverage, opened offices in Hong Kong and New York City, and grown to a staff of 22 as of 2017.3
In 2014, Vanity Fair named Lessin one of a new generation of "Media Disrupters".4 She has appeared on various media outlets, including CNBC, NPR, CNN, and Charlie Rose, and is a regular speaker at international conferences.3
Personal Life
In 2012, Lessin married Samuel Lessin, a former Facebook VP and current startup founder and investor.3 Their first child was born in early 2017.3 Both Lessin and her husband are close friends with Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.3
