Tetsuya Iizuka
Asia-Pacific Leadership Council Member - Global Semiconductor Alliances (GSA)
Dr. Tetsuya Iizuka is a prominent figure in the semiconductor industry, serving as the Founder and Chairman of THine Electronics, Inc. He founded THine Microsystems in 1991 and THine Electronics in 1992, initially as a joint venture with Samsung Electronics. After a management buyout from Samsung in 1998, he led the company to establish itself as a global fabless LSI maker, and THine Electronics went public on JASDAQ in 2001.1
In addition to his role at THine, Dr. Iizuka is a member of the Asia-Pacific Leadership Council at the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA). His contributions to the semiconductor sector are notable; he previously held significant positions at Toshiba, including General Manager of the LSI Development Department. He has also served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Tokyo and has been active in various industry associations, such as being the Chairman of the Japanese Semiconductor Ventures Association (JASVA) since its inception in 2000.123
Dr. Iizuka holds a Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from the University of Tokyo, awarded in 1975. His achievements have been recognized through several awards, including the Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) Japan in 2001 and medals for his contributions to society.1
