Ted Slater is a highly experienced professional specializing in ontologies, knowledge representation, knowledge management, and knowledge engineering.

With a diverse background, Ted has expertise in AI, machine learning, bioinformatics, FAIR Data, Semantic Web, text mining, molecular biology, and systems biology.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Ted also enjoys pursuits such as playing the electric bass guitar, amateur radio, scuba diving, and snorkeling.

Ted Slater's impressive educational journey includes completing a Diploma at Reeths-Puffer High School, an M.S. in Computer Science from New Mexico State University, an M.A. in Molecular Biology from the University of California, Riverside, and a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Central Michigan University.

Throughout his career, Ted has held key positions such as Senior Director, PaaS at Elsevier, Executive Director at Broad Reach Strategic Advising LLC, Global Head of Scientific AI & Analytics at Cray Inc., Global Head of Healthcare & Life Sciences at Cray Inc., and Senior Director of Data Sciences at Thomson Reuters, amongst others.

His previous roles also include Chief Technology Officer at the OpenBEL Consortium, Senior Director of Knowledge Management Services at Merck Sharp & Dohme, AD Biology Systems and Knowledge Discovery at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Senior Manager and Associate Research Fellow at Pfizer, Vice President of Knowledge Engineering at Genstruct Inc., Director of Bioinformatics at Paradigm Genetics and Icoria, and Biocomputational Scientist at GCG (Genetics Computer Group) and Sequana Therapeutics, among others.
