Ted Barnes
Professor of Art at UMHB
Ted Barnes is a prominent artist and educator with over 40 years of experience in the art field. With an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Arkansas, he has taught at several institutions, including Ouachita Baptist University, Louisiana College, Georgetown College, and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB), where he currently serves as Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts and Professor of Visual Art. Barnes has also worked as an assistant art director for an advertising agency, Halbleib and Moll & Associates, where he worked with various clients such as Ledco, Inc. and The Seelbach Hotel.
A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Barnes received his MA in Art Education from Western Kentucky University and a BA in Studio Art from Ouachita Baptist University. In 1994, he served as a visiting scholar in art at Regent's Park College, Oxford University, Oxford, England. Over the years, Barnes has exhibited his work in several solo and group exhibitions, including a mid-career retrospective called "Blame It on Cain" at the River Oaks Arts Center in Alexandria, Louisiana.
