•	Independently validated integration of Pall’s novel Single-Pass Tangential Flow Filtration System into Merck’s purification platform by increasing purity, truncating residence time, and minimizing product loss in bioprocess streams of varying viscosities.

Research and Development Intern, Biologics New and Enabling Technologies

•	Bioenergy laboratory formulating new strategies for efficient hydrogen and ethanol production of bacterium C. thermocellum.
•	Elucidated DNA-binding properties of potential transcription factors through protein induction and purification techniques.
•	Utilized BIO-RAD Experion, LightShift Chemiluminescent EMSA Kits, RoboCycler PCR, Thermo Scientific Spectrophotometer, and NanoScope Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) to characterize DNA-protein interactions in C. thermocellum.

•	Member of intradepartmental team that developed methods for coating corrosive-resistant carbonyl iron particles with zirconia.  
•	Operated Colloidal Dynamics AcoustoSizer II, Brookfield Rheometer, and Brookhaven ZetaPALS to measure particle size, zeta potential, and dielectric constants of zirconia-coated carbonyl iron particles while refining a sol-gel coating technique.
