Tannis Ling, Owner of Bao Bei Chinese Brasserie

Tannis Ling is the owner of Bao Bei Chinese Brasserie, a popular restaurant in Vancouver's Chinatown that opened in January 2010.13 Ling is a Vancouver native who grew up in Kerrisdale.6

Before opening Bao Bei, Ling worked for five years as a star bar manager.6 She opened Bao Bei with the hope of recreating the special charm that Chinatown used to have.1 The restaurant specializes in rustic Chinese small plates meant for a more intimate dining experience.1

In addition to Bao Bei, Ling is also the visionary behind the popular Japanese-Italian restaurant Kissa Tanto, which she owns with chefs Joël Watanabe and Alain Chow.24 Watanabe was previously the executive chef at Bao Bei.12
