    Tammy Ma is an experimental laser-plasma physicist at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), focusing on experiments for thermonuclear fusion.

    In addition to her scientific research, Tammy is actively involved in science outreach activities, such as public talks, lectures, and media interviews, to engage the public in the importance of sustainable fusion energy.

    She holds a Ph.D. from UC San Diego, a Master's Degree from the University of California, San Diego, and a Bachelor's Degree from Caltech.

    Throughout her career, Tammy has held various roles at LLNL, including Program Element Leader for High-Intensity Laser HED Science, Associate Program Leader for High Energy Density Laboratory Plasmas, and Staff Scientist (Physicist). She has also led programs and research groups related to inertial confinement fusion and systems engineering.

    Tammy's professional journey includes experiences as a postdoctoral researcher, Chair of Lab-Wide Laboratory Directed Research & Development, X-Ray Analysis Group Lead, and Lawrence Scholar at LLNL. She also gained research experience at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, working on projects related to electric propulsion and biophysics.
