Sunkyu Kim

Sunkyu Kim is a highly skilled drug hunter and leader with a successful background in preclinical drug discovery, translational sciences, and early development. He is recognized for his pivotal role in launching the CDK4/6 program at Novartis, which resulted in FDA-approved drugs. He led multi-disciplinary teams through various stages of drug development, focusing on single and combination therapy strategies, biomarkers, and resistance mechanisms.

In addition to his work on the CDK4/6 program, Sunkyu Kim also led the development of the SERD program, currently in clinical trials and poised to impact breast cancer therapy. His expertise extends to various mechanisms and modalities in both Oncology and non-Oncology disease areas, with a keen understanding of genomics, bioinformatics, and chemical biology.

With a strong educational background that includes a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University at Buffalo, Sunkyu Kim has held key leadership positions in prestigious organizations. As the Vice President at Incyte, he continues to bring value to the enterprise through strategic leadership and management of complex industry and academic collaborations.

Sunkyu Kim's career includes roles as a Senior Director at FORMA Therapeutics, Inc., Director of Translational Medicine leader at Roche Diagnostics, and Group Leader in Oncology drug discovery at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research. His contributions as a line manager and scientific leader have been instrumental in shaping company strategies and achieving long-term goals.
