Sunil Chopra
Professor at Northwestern University
Sunil Chopra is a professor at Northwestern University.1 He is the IBM Distinguished Professor of Operations Management at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.2345 Chopra also served as Interim Dean of the Kellogg School of Management from 2009 to 2010, and from 2006 to 2009, he was the Senior Associate Dean for Curriculum and Teaching.235 He became a faculty member at the school in 1989.235
Before joining Northwestern University, Chopra was an Assistant Professor at the Stern School of Business Administration at New York University from 1986 to 1989.1235 He earned a Ph.D. in Operations Research from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1986.1235 He also holds an MS in Operations Research from SUNY Stony Brook (1984) and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi (1981).56
Chopra's research and teaching interests include Operations Management, Logistics and Distribution Management, and the design of communication and distribution networks.2345 He has co-authored the books Managing Business Process Flows and Supply Chain Management: Strategy, Planning, and Operation.2345 The Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) awarded Supply Chain Management the best book of the year for 2002.235
Chopra has also been recognized with several teaching awards at Kellogg.235 He has consulted for various firms, including Boise Cascade Office Products, GE Capital, W.W. Grainger, Motorola, Intel, and Sara Lee.25
