Sun Chan, a screenwriter trained at the University of Southern California, excels in developing and producing genre films, TV series, and branded content for the Chinese market through his role as the Head of Development & Production at Palette Pictures.
He co-wrote and co-directed the successful streaming TV series, THE SUBSTITUTE, for iQiyi, which garnered 400 million hits within 40 days of its launch. This groundbreaking series involved collaboration between Chinese and American filmmakers, receiving positive coverage from Variety for its unique genre representation.
In addition to his TV work, Sun produced and wrote the feature film, Day of Redemption, directed by Lawrence Lau and starring Zhou Yumin, receiving theatrical release in mainland China. He also co-directed the acclaimed 14-episode documentary series, Oceans Away, for China Central Television.
Sun further showcased his talent in fiction writing by co-authoring the award-winning sci-fi novel, THE AWAKENED, which earned the best novel award at the Water Droplet Awards, a prestigious event co-sponsored by Tencent and the China Science Writers Association.
Before his creative pursuits, Sun studied economics at Yale University and worked as a brand management specialist at Burson-Marsteller, a renowned corporate branding consultancy. His educational background includes a BA in Philosophy from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, an MFA in Film from the University of Southern California, and an MA in Economics from Yale University.
