Steven Li
Steven Li is a first-generation, low-income student currently pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science at Stanford University as part of the Class of 2024. Motivated by his immigrant parents, Steven has a deep-seated passion for social impact entrepreneurship, finance, and engineering, which he sees as vehicles to manifest his innovative ideas into tangible projects that benefit communities. Drawing from his own life experiences, including living culturally isolated and medically uninsured, Steven aims to advocate for the needs of marginalized communities.
At Stanford University, Steven has been actively engaged in various initiatives. He has held roles such as Office for Inclusion, Belonging and Intergroup Communication Generalist Student Staff, AAPI Community Fellow at Collected: AAPI Mental Wellness, Student Advisory Council member at Stanford Federal Credit Union, and Frosh Battalion Member at Business Association of Stanford Entrepreneurial Students (BASES). Additionally, he founded rerite.cc, served as a Marketing Consultant at Stanford Marketing, and contributed to The Stanford Daily as part of the Business Development Team.
Prior to his university studies, Steven participated in a multitude of diverse internships and programs. Notably, he interned at Conor Commercial Real Estate, Goldman Sachs, Firstcard Inc., and SafeStamp®. He also served as a Project Manager for the Economic Awareness Council, Student Consultant at Bridging The Gap (BTG) Consulting, and Analyst Intern at SafeStamp®. Steven's extensive involvement extends to his time as an intern at Lincoln Park Zoo and his role as a President Intern of On the Money Magazine.
Steven Li's commitment to education and community extends beyond the United States. As an Entrepreneur Study Abroad Student with CIEE Council on International Educational Exchange, he gained a global perspective on entrepreneurship and problem-solving strategies. Steven also conducted research in environmental science at DePaul University and contributed to projects within the Chicago Public Schools & Illinois Science Fair Researcher program.
Moreover, Steven Li authored a book at the age of 18 that sheds light on the college application process from the viewpoint of individuals from unconventional backgrounds, including first-generation low-income, people of color, and immigrant communities. His book, supported by Chicago Scholars and the Gray Matter Experience, was successfully launched on platforms like Kickstarter and Amazon, further amplifying his efforts to empower youth and share valuable insights.
In his professional journey, Steven has demonstrated not only a strong work ethic but also a profound dedication to leveraging his skills and experiences to drive positive change. He has seamlessly merged his academic pursuits with real-world applications, be it through internship roles or founding entrepreneurial ventures, showcasing a multifaceted approach to personal and professional growth. Steven Li's relentless pursuit of social impact and innovation positions him as a role model for aspiring entrepreneurs and advocates for community-driven solutions.
