He began his professional journey as a Mechanical Engineering Technician at a Canadian nuclear power plant, where he honed his analytical and problem-solving skills. After working for several years in the power industry, Steven switched careers and became a Financial Analyst at a large Canadian bank, where he learned to manage complex projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

In 2006, Steven founded his own consulting firm, Ellam Consulting, which specializes in helping small and medium-sized businesses improve their operations, profitability, and growth. He has worked with clients in various sectors, including healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and professional services.
