Steve Turnbull

Steve Turnbull is a highly experienced Senior Lecturer in Media and Journalism, with over 15 years of diverse experience in Further and Higher Education institutions, Film/Video Production, and Theoretical areas. He has been acknowledged by students, peers, and external bodies for his creative/innovative approach, strong design sense, and passion for new learning technologies. Turnbull has extensive experience experimenting with various technologies and software systems, such as VLEs and multimedia presentations, in pursuit of more engaging and student-centered solutions to delivery. His teaching is informed by his sound understanding of pedagogy, particularly Accelerated Learning and NLP, and strong commitment to Equality and Diversity Issues.

Turnbull has a Masters Certificate in Media Education, Action Research into the development of an interactive learning resource at The Open University, a PGCE in Post-16 Education from The University of Huddersfield, and a BA (Hons.) in Cultural Studies from the University of East London. He has worked as a Senior Lecturer in Media and Journalism at Huddersfield University, as a Lecturer in Media at Barnsley College, and as a Media Technician/Lecturer (P/T) in Media at Wakefield College.

Turnbull is a highly motivated, enthusiastic, hard-working, and organized team player with sound project management, communication, and presentational skills. He also has a passion for film-making, having written, produced, and directed both funded and award-winning short films. He believes in utilizing the power of film to stimulate and structure learning.
