Steve Riley is an experienced journalist with a career spanning fifteen years as a reporter and 22 years as an editor.

Throughout his tenure, he has garnered numerous prestigious accolades in journalism, such as the RFK Grand Prize, ASNE local accountability reporting, and SPJ investigative reporting awards.

Riley has demonstrated exceptional leadership by overseeing projects that have been recognized as Pulitzer Prize finalists.

He is an active member of Investigative Reporters & Editors and is skilled in facilitating journalistic endeavors.

Riley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Mississippi and has a strong background in major projects focusing on ineffective state government officials and wayward public officials.

Having retired from his role as Executive Editor at the Houston Chronicle, where he also previously served as Interim Executive Editor and Deputy Managing Editor, Riley has held prominent editorial positions at The News & Observer, including Senior Editor/Enterprise, Deputy Managing Editor, Metro Editor, Sports Editor, Government/Political Editor, and Reporter.
